•              Lachung is situated at 9600 ft above the sea level
  
•              It is a small riverside village very close to Tibet border and is best visited in Summer.

•          Lachung is also the base camp for Rhodendron Valley Trek which starts from Yumthang valley and ends at Lachen Valley. One can travel upto yumesamdong from Lachung where one can get snow even in summer. 
•            Permit: Inner line Permit has to be obtained in advance for visiting Lachung
  
•         Be prepared for a bit of rough terrain as the roads from Gangtok to Lachung and  Lachen are generally very rough.
  
•           Lachung does not have any major Airport or Railway Station nearby. Therefore its possible it is a remote destination and is required to visit as a part of an itinerary.

Things To Do

Lachung Monastery is an ancient (1880) Nyingma Buddhist gompa in Lachung at the confluence of the Lachen River and Lachung River, tributaries of the Teesta River. Permits are required for visits to North Sikkim. The monastery hosts a famous mask dance each year.

Yumthang Valley is a beautiful valley situated in North Sikkim and is around 23km from Lachung. Located at a height of 3,500 metres above the sea-level, this beautiful valley is home to many beautiful Himalayan flowers.
